Kaine - Special Feature
Rehersal/Set Report.
Although the crowd reaction was good, last time Kaine played in the Rock heat for B.O.T.Bands, there were a few problems during the set, with a line up change, an injury, and a few technical problems. Kaine has quite a few followers, this being a band very central to Bedford and having a heavy style as opposed to the many Punk influenced groups. I was invited along to see them rehearse and am pleased to report that they now firmly have their act together.
The new bassist – ‘Joolz’, not just a fill in replacement as with Mark on their previous gig, but a fully committed member, who has played in Punk bands such as ‘The Tendons’, but fully able to contribute to this different, heavier sound.
Siio Mc Q is the vocals and guitarist, Al Brackley is their drummer, and Stevie Kilgore, fills up the guitar section.
During their rehearsal they belted out songs including Hells Kitchen, No!, Bitch, and Pure Reason, showing their skilfully played fast and heavy style with old, classic, and new tracks. If their practice is a sign of things to come, then their next gig is gonna be a scorcher – certainly something special.
Although the band would be the first to admit that they are not a cover band, they have however an excellent cover of a Nirvana song, which they used in their last performance, also – while I was at their practice section, Joolz knocked out a bloody good Metallica track bass line and admits to being able to do justice to some ‘System Of A Down’ tunes. – What ever they decide to cover for the competition, you can be sure it’s going be good and go down a storm.
What ever you thought of Kaine last time, they will be even better next time – Catch em for the B.O.T.Bands final on Saturday 22nd Mar – You aint gonna be disappointed!!
Meanwhile there's an interview I conducted with the band in the Interview section.
